How does potion of illusion work
Just played a mage who did the following: early turn. Lorekeeper polklt next turn. They seem like crap to me. Some of them are pretty strong. None of them unreasonably so. Lol its the best deck atm ahahha. All streamers are playing it. Any form rendered by a trinket or a potion. Few of my favorite forms: A wolf.. Vial of the Sands Drake. The new Tree of Life form. An Herb. The Arcanite Reaper guy! The fun is amplified even further if you're a Mage with Mirror Image!
Sadly it only last two minutes. Although, that is longer then alot of these forms work naturally. Basically, if another player is in that form, you can be too! Have fun! Comment by Darknight You can stack these potions with multiple buffs, when this happen your character will sometimes just disappear completely. This could be a fun little trick in battle grounds and the such. Comment by xXJonoXx If you try to use this potion with Shadowform active as a priest, nothing will happen but you will have the potions buff.
As soon as you reactivate Shadowform, the costume goes away. Comment by Uselessbob So after some significant "testing" tonight with some guildies, we've found a few fun things. Basic Mechanics: Will copy the race, gender, and armor of the nearest player not weapon or shield, for obvious reasons If not near enough to a player, will turn you into one of a set of random costumes I get a female troll shaman a lot, it seems Comment by Greyleaf I've noticed that there are times when this potion appears to not work get a buff, but no apparent change but actually does.
I have tried to copy another player, thought it failed, but had them tell me they could see the change and in one case show me, since I play in the same room as someone else. Zoning after a "failed" attempt may make the change show. I used one right before a dungeon queue popped, saw nothing, but after zoning to the instance the change showed for me. If you're a mage, or have a Highborne Soul Mirror your mirror images might show the change even if you don't.
Comment by I am fairly sure someone out there is wondering so, I'll say this : Potion Master allows you to get more potions out of crafting these.
I would need to test this extensively in order to figure out if you actually proc "additional potions" or if you multiply the basic amount of by x.
No promise on the testing, but I will report if I do. In case you ever wanted to see a bear shoot fireballs. Comment by The "illusion copy" effect does not seem to work for warriors. My assumption is that stances is making it not work. Comment by Valexena I used it around a friend who turned into an Orc Shaman. I turned into an Orc Shaman and the third person next to us turned into one too! Comment by Question: downrate if you want, IDC does it work on Mind Controled humanoids since they're player controled?
Comment by A funny thing that happend to me on my DK is that I went to the king of Stormwind to try and become him. I put target on him and used the potion and Got turned into an undead Now we know his real race :O. Comment by Doesn't seem to work to become a worgen's human form.
I play a worgen and was standing in SW in human form when a random draenei changed into my worgen form and ran off. Shifting back into humanoid form turns you back into a copy. Buff isn't canceled after shapeshifting, but for ferals it is pretty much useless as you cant stay in humanoid form to use a potion effect.
Comment by Spicy Shifting into Moonkin form removes the buff totally. Person B drinks potion near sandstone drake and turns into a dragon. Me and a guildie just tried, was hilarious Also person B can mount Person A's Sandstone Drake while transformed, lol mating season anyone?
Comment by Shamans: cast it OUT of ghost wolf form caster form and you will be able to shift to ghost wolf without removing the buff when you're back in caster mode. Comment by You can use this to copy various transformation debuffs as well, such as polymorph and hex. I also hear of a debuff in Deepholm that turns you into a molten slag ooze. Thinking of going out there, getting the debuff and copying it and returning to org via a portal.
Oozes in Orgrimmar. Sounds like a good sitcom name. Comment by Another good use: have your friend use their Tree Disguise Kit and get summoned to you, then jump around and cast as a big tree. Unintended error, or unreported change? Comment by lebst Doesn't seem to work right for me. It always transforms me into a random race instead of my target, this happen to anyone else? It's pretty annoying with how much these things cost to make.. Comment by I tried it on one of the level 5 cows in Elwynn Forest and turned into a Tauren :.
Comment by aliciana2 ]I am having so much fun with this potion. Whenever a player who isn't aware that this potion exists sees me transform, they scratch their heads and ask WTF? I wrote a blog post detailing the potion's effects and uses. There are also some additional screen shots there for anyone who is interested. Comment by Jaelre Is it affected by mastery? Comment by verb does this potion simply do nothing for anyone else? I've read everything here, but nothing happens at all.
Comment by The short duration is a real pity. Comment by Brightstar Doesn't seem to be working at all when I use it on my Worgen. Not sure if it's because of the race, or a bug, or what. Kinda lame though. Comment by I'm having similar problems to posts above mine.
Often I seem to be getting a gray poof, then the buff, but I'm not actually transforming. Well, it seems I can transform into random races while I'm standing away from other people - but, I can't transform into things I'm targeting. Which is very disappointing.
Comment by Works on a person dancing with summer flame brazier spirit, it looks really great - you become a fiery female Draenei, rawr! Comment by if you are a shadowpriest you can change your form with this potion while your not in shadow, then you turn shadowform on and mount up - turn shadowform off and you're again what you've been. Comment by I did this with Jeeves targeted and next to me with 9 other raid members nearby and I transformed into a female goblin.
So even if your not going to go for a Fast Deck, it can be just as useful for some of those slower decks, too. Maybe Anubisath Rouge Returns becuase of Potion. It can obviously go for some insane combos. Most notably, the one featured in the Art of this card, Jandice Barov. Rogue can use it for Lackey generation and invoking by playing this on a big board with lackey and Invoke Cards.
The question is: Is this worth running this card? It costs 4 Mana after all. It has tons of Meme Potential, but in a serious Meta Deck? But in the end, despite all of this, I think it will make it into decks. With all the Battlecries and Combos this provides, it is good enough. Will enable some creative combos and some Trolden highlights though. But it requires a lot of dedication to make it work. You either play the big Quest, but this limits you to play max.
If you go for Elemental Allies, you have to draw this first. It can also be useful when you would like to have more than two -or one if legendary- copies of a given minion on your board, similarly to Barnes , Simulacrum , or Molten Reflection. With two Sorcerer's Apprentices and two Potions of Illusion, it's even possible to set up for an infinite damage combo. Play the two Apprentices, then the Potion. On the next turn, play Archmage Antonidas , The Coin which can be generated by Licensed Adventurer and a cheap sidequest such as Elemental Allies or Learn Draconic , and the four Apprentices for unlimited 0-mana Fireballs.
