Why tame anthriss
A BE hunter came by, shot at him to pull him away from me and started taming herself! I was NOT amused. Luckily she wasn't in the lava pool so she didn't succeed, however, a Troll Warrior then decided it'll be fun to start killing him!
At this point, a Molten Behemoth wandered by, aggro'd me as I was trying to get the troll to stop, and killed me. Hurried back, saw the hunter trying again, putting down a frost trap and everything, but again, she wasn't standing in lava so she got killed.
This time, before the warrior could return, I repeated my concussive shot and lava diving, hit tame Troll warrior was back by that time and could only watch.
Comment by Traziz Agreed the 2nd pool to the south of Anthriss is swimable and usable to tame her. But thats if you wan't to cheat and brag about it like you were great. Normal people will drag her through the pools first :P. Comment by Got him around pm server Whisperwind. Comment by well, all classes are full of jerks Comment by LoreMooster I killed this spider for the yellow text gray item for my collection.
It goes well next to the crystallized tears I'd pick up from dead alliance in Wintergrasp. Comment by I honestly just popped ancient hysteria, dismissed my core hound, hit him with concussive shot and tamed him. Comment by Just a warning If your on Dragonblight I will no longer watch you tame if you were there first "allies" I always have been polite before. I move along If your camped and give you room when I find you in a tame.
NO longer will I show you respect and take Crud in return. I have had every new pet that I have gone after Ninja'd or stolen by low class Allie huntards, I will now kill your tame and even camp you so that I can kill your tame, "once my fault twice yours 3 times is bloody war". I don't Care if your a lvl 10 taming a Tall Strider I am going to kill it just for spite.
I have had enough Comment by Shinn So i got some epic short story about this beast :D Okay, so i was gonna turn in my daily after doing the last one Strike at the Heart then i saw a rare and a hunter nearby at low health seems trying and dying to tame this beast i asked him and say " want some hint how to tame it?
I feel sorry for the other 3 hunters nearby actually trying to tame it :P. Comment by Paulosio Tamed him just to try out the interesting taming technique but if I ever need to make more stable space for a more unique looking pet he will be near the top of the list to be abandoned : Not really a fan of any of the Molten Front spiders.
Comment by So annoyed right now! Tried taming him but died. Then rezzed and was getting ready to try again. Was standing right next to it when a group from my OWN faction ran up in a group and killed it right in front of me. Just to be jerks I suppose cause none were hunter's and there is no special drop. So pissed.
Comment by Tamed today at about pm on Lightbringer EU. He spawned immediately after some nab stole Skitterflame off me. Facing him, shot concussive shot and run into the pool to the right, this is the ONLY pool that you can swim in. Comment by Saw Her, dropped a Freeze trap thought to myself: "This will be easy! No Dont use a freeze trap. She runs right over it to my surprise and horror and then beats the living daylights out of you. It has been proven that she hits alot less when in the lava; specifically 'Under' the lava.
Then ran south to a deep pool of lava. Have to get there before she can cast Searing Web It holds you in place Then get deep enough so your unerwater and the breath bar pops up. Cast Tame.
No traps needed. May want to find the exact lava pool i am talking about before hand if camping because someone told me about it over trade chat and i ran into the lava pool i saw; the closest one to her..
I got beat. Good Luck and Happy Hunting. All none hunters. Either help the Hunter tame or do nothing at all. It doesn't give you anything, no achievement no rare loot. So just steer clear. Comment by Amberlynn Around am server time on Khaz'goroth Anthriss spawned and I was absolutely ready for the tame. A Blood Elf Mage came running by and stole it, I died This is also the second time that a hunter killed it in front of me.
The first time was to prevent me from taming it and because a worgen DK was trying to kill it too. She was mad because I knew how to tame it and she didn't, I was just standing in the wrong lava pool She died every time she tried to tame it, saw that I was trying to tame it too, so shot it. This time I would have had him if it hadn't been for that mage. I pulled out a Corehound, popped Hysteria, dismissed, shot him with Concussive and then jumped in the pool and started to tame.
The tame was completing when the mage took a shot at him. I didn't even get to loot the tear of loyalty :' This was on the back of losing Solix as well Why are people so rude to hunters? Even fellow hunters? Edit: I forgot to mention to all those 'helpful' people out there It's nice that you want to help, and I DO appreciate it, but please ask what you can do instead of just doing something.
I kited Solix around that cave until he was at 20 energy and then I hit Tame. He was taunted away from me, so by the time I hit tame again it was too late Another tear of loyalty for my bank. No one was trying to help me with Anthriss But I know that you jerks exist, so I'm not holding out hope that sayng anything about that will change a damn thing.
Comment by Very easy tame. I killed all trash around, then concussive shot and here is the point: entered into deep lava , not this lava close to Anthriss. Whole your character must be below lava surface, even head.
Happy hunting. Southeast The Maelstrom. Comment by Arames I just walked up to Anthriss slowly until the tame button proced so I could tame. She killed me right when I tamed but I got her. I guess I got lucky. Got her am - server Arathor. Comment by Caught Anthriss today after just randomly going around looking to see if any of the spawns were up. Jumped in the lava poll near anthris concussed him and got the tame. Comment by Alvita Another easy way to tame this is to bring out a core hound and hit Ancient Hysteria and then dismiss the pet, hit concussive shot followed by tame and you should have enough health to tame him.
Comment by The cool thing about this spider is that you don't need Beast Mastery to use it. Also, being submerged in the lava pool cuts down on the spiders damage. Comment by Mneme Just tamed Anthriss, and I didn't need to use a lava pool--so it's not absolutely required, just helpful. I just ran up and hit Tame Beast. I died the instant the tame finished, but still got him as a pet. Comment by I know that the point of taming this spider is supposed to be the challenge of the taming process, but the reward seems a bit lackluster.
Without a unique body style, special ability or achievement associated with taming Anthriss it seems to be not worth the trouble. Why not stalk a spirit beast instead? Comment by DoctoeJ Well sadly standing in the pool didn't help me one bit. Comment by Foorku Tamed him one hour ago. First time I saw him spawn. I had been reading a little bit about him, which ended up coming to my aid, since another hunter was trying too.
He kept failing though, because the web-ability burned him almost instantly. I died 2 times, one of them because I got interrupted by a foolish Horde DK that tried to kill the creature. Luckily it's a big PvP-server, so I had plenty of Alliance folks there to help me gank him. I stood as far away as possible, before single shooting him. Just before that idiot DK grabbed me again and killed me. A good idea would be to check the pools out before doing the tame.
There are 2 pools pretty close to him - they are NOT deep enough. There is one big pool in the middle which you can swim in, and another that you can't swim in, but it's deep enough anyway. The last one is the one I took. Oh, and be aware that his web ability hurts, but so does his meelee attack and the lava burning so be fully healed before trying. Otherwise you will die. Comment by The lava pool was changed. What i did was hit it with a snake trap, so you are in combat with it but its not hitting u and run up to the graveyard above.
Get as close as u can to the edge that points to him and keep hitting tame best. He follows the trail instead of going strait up the cliff and it will give u enough time to tame it.
Comment by TaurusMalfurion Anthriss is simple to tame. Being submerged in lava will remove his only powerful dmg spell. Cindering web? How to tame: Jump into the closest lava pool where it appears that you're floating, pull him to you and tame. No need for Deterrence or to swim down very deep like some of the previous posts mentioned. Comment by I never had to stand in any pools.
I was killing spiders and skinning them. I came across Anthriss by accident She was just sitting in between some rocks I was above her on a ledge above the lava area, but she wasn't even near any. I just dismissed my pet, got within furthest range of Tame Beast..
She does hit for alot. I had k hps, and they went down fast. I'm guessing she hits for around k per whack. It wasn't all that thrilling a tame for me, but I guess she is a nice addition to my collection. Comment by littlehouse Submitted a screen shot of where to stand so that you are under the lava and swimming for your tame.
It makes it so much easier. After dying the first time, trying to do a straight tame, I jumped around a bit until I found this pool. I looked through the posts and no one really gives a good location description of where to go swimming at. Hope the screen shot helps! Comment by I never had to stand in a pool or anything special. I was skinning spiders and out of the corner of my eye, I see this huge yellow spider, down below, between some big rocks. I clicked on it, it was Anthriss. I've read up on how to tame all the other spiders, but not this one.
I dismissed my pet, walked as close to him as I could within taming range i was up above and behind him , I hit tame, taming started, I started losing hps fast.
Glad I have k hps. I died just as the tame finished. I wish Anthriss was at least a different and unique color. Same goes for Kirix and Skitterflame. Anyone can tame the cinderweb broodlings and say it's Kirix Give us some very unique colors, Blizzard.
He's not much to look at, and the tame was what I'd call pretty simple. I guess I just got lucky. Comment by Got him today, was skinning others' leftovers when I saw him in his corner. Hopped down, shot him with a shot, jumped in lava pool, sank. Would not have come so close to death were it not for the molten behemoth stepping on me during the process. It really does suck that he is not at least a little different in looks than the regular spiders.
Comment by Okay, the concussive shot thing didn't work for me I'm not sure why. But I hit him and he was immune to it Comment by LadySuncrusher tamed him on the same day i tamed skitterflame, about 4 hours spawn time between the 2 in my experience and at the same time skitterflame was out so was karkin, the crab, who i lost due to another hunter and his druid friend, killed karkin so i could not get him : tip for skitter is to tag him with arcane, try to slow him down with frost and snake traps and move to the lava, keep urself emerged and u should be fine druing the whole taming process good luck and happy hunting to all hunters.
Comment by LadySuncrusher these beauties may seem normal, they r normal once tamed, however the feeling us hunters get when actually having tamed one of them is unique, keep that in mind fellow hunters, i know i may have 2 very normal looking beauties that some of u have also, but the unique feeling of pride we get after each successful tame of any rare cannot be compared to anything good luck and happy hunting.
Comment by pat Must be my lucky day Tamed Deth'ilac about 10 min ago and now tamed Anthriss The pointers here were awesome.. Comment by Just threw a masterball at Anthriss about 40 minutes ago. I was aware he would be a "hunter challenge" but I decided to just tame him without doing anything special since there were about too many people in the area and I didn't want to look it up and then discover the spider's corpse in front of me.
It worked out. At the end of the tame I died and saw him disappear and thought that I had lost him but was very glad to see him in my party. I am slightly disappointed that he has the same model as some of the common spiders in the area but am very pleased to know I have one of the rare spiders. Comment by Tamed it today also tamed Deth'tilac and Kirix.
Just shot one time so it will start to "follow" you , go in the middle of some lava pool and Tame. The easiest one imo. Comment by noah this guy is really hard to get ahold of due to the spawn location. Comment by mentos Just tamed this spider minutes ago without issue as a BM hunter spec is unimportant 1. You can swim in the middle of this pool. Pull the spider to the previously mentioned pool, when it approaches and is almost within melee range, activate deterrence and begin taming beast as soon as global cooldown allows it You will take very little damage from this approach.
Hope this helps! Logged in and there she was, big as a house. I immediately dismissed my current pet and tried to tame - forgetting I wasn't at full health. Channel bar was almost complete when I died. A helpful lock came by after I rezzed, and had looked here to see what to do, and hit it with shadow fury when I hit it with Concussive, jumped in the lava pool, submerged and tamed.
The lock died but I got my pet. Too bad it isn't unique but its something after all. I LIKE the idea of the beasts in question being able to dump truck griefers or the hunter trying to tame it.
Krush and Terropene were puzzles that you needed to figure out how to work for your own character, even though you knew the strategy ahead of time. Do I have enough HP to survive or do I need to stack stam?
How much fire resistance can I get by with in combination with my HP and still survive? I look at the pieces.
I group them based on which ones look like they go together. Then I try putting that bad boy together and I keep at it until its solved. As for the other spiders…. Your email address will not be published. All of these taming challenges require some sort of unique strategy in order to pull them off. Previous Post: « Skitterflame.
Comments whoah this blog is magnificent i really like reading your articles. Aww crap you took the vid down-damn you are too nice Gar, too nice, lol. Leave a Reply Cancel reply Your email address will not be published. I have indicated where he is located on the map below. If Anthriss is killed all he drops is a Crystalline Tear of Loyalty.
If your not planning on taming him, don't be a douche. Leave him alone. Anthriss is not a hard spider to tame, so long as you understand how to do it. The only way to remove his searing web is to submerge in lava. You need to be swimming in lava for the buff to be removed.
The pool directly in front of him is too shallow to submerge in. The pool just south of it works fine.
